@themancave_aus: Elijah Hollands was delisted by Carlton yesterday, along with six others. He’s 24. His dad played. His great-grandfather played. His brother Ollie is still on the list. In his words, football was everything he’d lived and breathed for as long as he could remember, and the only thing he’d ever wanted to do. He stepped away in April to look after his mental health and hasn’t played since. Last night he wrote about it, and it’s worth reading properly. He’s okay with it not being the plan. He’s grateful for the games he got, especially the ones alongside his brother in front of 90,000 at the MCG. And he’s excited about what comes next with his health in better shape. Then he finished by asking people to show that same support to athletes and to everyone around them. A bloke who had just lost his career, using his last line on other people.
