how do you get $2 plus price of fuel at the pump, when back in 2011 crude oil was $110 per barrel and fuel was $1.40 fast forward price if crude oil today is $140 per barrel, and petrol is $2.20 per litre. how is the petrol twice as expensive as it was 15 years ago and yet price of crude oil was almost the same price as it was today..

Can someone please explain to me during the 2008 GFC oil went as high as $140 per barrel but diesel averages between $1.60 - $1.75. Now its $100 per barrel but diesel is $2.50+.
