Every builder has a man on him – no spare player, no option. Except one: the keeper. And that is exactly where you want the ball. One trick makes it work: the wing backs push forty metres up, all the way onto the opposition full backs. A back five becomes a back three. But the price is at the back. Three defenders, no cover, every one of them in his own one against one – if one loses, the whole team loses. That's why the line plays high: not out of bravery, out of necessity. The 3-4-3 doesn't press with three forwards.
