@annaarcherfitness: to set the record straight 👏 speaking for any young woman or girl involved in sport… this is the LAST thing we want or need. it makes me angry that women can still be sexualised in something that we do for ourselves, not men. we aren’t pushing our bodies to their limits, taking on challenges or training every day for men. sport is our thing too. and we will take up space unapologetically. this post isn’t against men. it’s against the part of society that still holds these beliefs. i’m grateful that i’m surrounded by men who push me every day to become even stronger, faster and more powerful. and i’m especially grateful for the women around me who constantly show me what’s possible. keep posting everyone. let’s show young girls what it’s really all about ❤️

The ad is a promotional campaign for Novig, a sports betting and prediction market app. Sydney Sweeney isn’t just the face of the advertisement either; she’s also a strategic partner and equity holder in the company. What really boggles my mind is that some women are looking at this strictly from an athletic or women’s sports perspective. Yet we’ve seen plenty of athletes pose nude or nearly nude on magazine covers, including ESPN, and there doesn’t seem to be the same outrage. What I find even more confusing is that if people are genuinely concerned about protecting women’s sports, why isn’t there more focus on the actual issues surrounding biological males competing in women’s sports? Instead, it seems like people pick and choose which issues they want to be outraged about. And Sydney Sweeney seems to find herself at the center of controversy constantly, just like with her American Eagle campaign.
