"Thanks be to God." Meet St. Cyprian of Carthage. Rich lawyer. Famous speaker. Totally comfortable. Totally empty. Then at 40+ years old, he gave it ALL away. Sold his estates for the poor. Got baptized. Became a bishop just 3 years later. When a plague hit and everyone else ran, he organized Christians to nurse the sick... including the people persecuting them. When Rome demanded he worship false gods, he said: "I am a Christian and a bishop. I know no other gods but the one true God." His last act? He paid his own executioner in gold.
