@liverpoolecho: Merseyside fire crews have climbed St Johns Beacon hundreds of times to pay tribute to the US firefighters who died in the 9/11 attacks 🚒 🤍 Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service crews ascended the spiral staircase to the top of St Johns Beacon, to pay tribute to the 343 firefighters who died in the 2001 attacks in New York and Washington, DC. Each ascent of the Liverpool landmark represented one of the 343 firefighters who lost their life responding to the terrorist attacks in New York. The firefighters tackled the 93 flights of stairs, equivalent to more than 46 floors, while wearing full firefighting kit including breathing apparatus weighing approximately 15kg. #tribute #memory #liverpool
