Yes! Sometimes it’s better to just not know 😅😅😅 The water looks beautiful but in so many places sewerage run off into the water is a huge issue and water quality is not great depending on timing/tides/population density. Even where there are septic tanks or systems in place that are functioning (and not filled with solids), in the wet seasons particularly, overflow, rising sea (and groundwater) levels on islands and flooding out of tanks, etc is a big issue. I’m so OCD when it comes to ocean water because of my work - Australia included. Most of our stormwater runs off into beaches and rivers, you shouldn’t go swimming for a few days after a big rain in Aus if you’re city based, the water quality can get nasty 😅
