I believe that using the entire animal is one, if not the only way, to honor the life of that animal. I also believe that a big part of our health problems are coming from wearing plastic clothing. So, if I'm eating them, I'm wearing them.

Same with wool! Even if all sheep stopped being slaughtered for meat today and were never again, they would still need shearing. It's renewable, biodegradable and a fantastic insulator against both cold and heat. It can be used in clothing, in house insulation, and many other things. Sheep HAVE to be shorn.

I wish the term vegan leather was reserved strictly for leathers made out of things like mushrooms and plants etc and the rest should have to be labelled as plastic in some way. I think it would make people more aware of what they’re buying and allow them to make a more conscious decision about it.

Also, if your grandma has an old fur coat laying around that you might inherit. WEAR IT. It’s so much better than letting it rot and by wearing something 30+ years old you are not going to support the fur industry today.

I have a jacket in perfect condition that is 60 years old. Black with beautiful purple satin lining after my grandpa's brother. It's like 15 vegan leather jackets on landfill (those good quality) or 60 bad quality. If we take 20 jackets we have 300- 1200 jackets ad to that faulty examples that can't be repaired or repurposed like real leather can and numbers go really high...

buy second hand vintage real leather if you can. I know not everyone has the privilege to shop good second hand clothes but if you can, consider that option.

I feel the same about fur. VINTAGE fur. Faux fur is heinous plastic environmental tragedy. My aunt’s floor length mink she bequeathed me and the short sporty 60’s beaver coat I picked up from the thrift for $15 are forever.

Also in a perfect world I think we’d only utilize domestic animals after they passed from natural causes. That alone would provide enough ethical hide to clothe people with the necessary coats & such.
