@metrouk: Move over Turkey Twizzlers, there’s a new school food ban in town 🚫 Aside from the banned items, the following foods will be heavily restricted too: Processed meat - once a week and must be served with fruit or vegetables Sweet desserts - once a week in primary schools and twice a week in secondary and must be served with fruit. Starchy foods cooked in oil or fat - twice a week. Foods high in fat and salt and drinks high in sugar or sweetener - to be served on a very occasional one-off. Breads must contain at least 4g of fibre per 100g and 50% wholemeal flour. Ketchup and other salt and sugar condiments can only be served in 10g portions. On top of all of that, the following inclusions have been made mandatory: One pasta dish a week must contain at least 50% wholewheat pasta. Lentils or chickpeas must be served with one main meal a week. Every dish must include at least one portion of fruit or veg. #uknews #ukschools #obesity
