🚨 Handling being “fobbed off”👇 When you go to your manager looking for support because of genuine workload concerns, feeling unheard and fobbed off is the worst feeling. It can be difficult not to react emotionally particularly as in these moments we are often already stressed. When a manager doesn’t listen to your concerns and turns it onto you by saying you need to manage your workload better, I’d recommend doing the following: 1️⃣ Highlight to them that asking for support is part of you managing your workload 2️⃣ Let them know you wouldn’t be having the conversation with them without good reason 3️⃣ Raise their awareness of the negative impact/ risk you are trying to avoid e.g. losing clients 4️⃣ Share your concerns calmly and factually 5️⃣ Clearly communicate your needs, for example: “Please can we come up with a plan together and agree who can support me with this” 📌 Please be mindful that the approach shown in this video will not fit every situation so always use your own judgement and adapt it to suit your own circumstances. You’ve got this! 💬 Have you ever been in this situation?
