If your hair is frizzy AF every time you brush or blow dry it, it’s textured!

As usual, Meron articulates our predicament so well. While siding with Abiy would cost us our country, we have every reason to distrust Isaias too. His infamous 2018 speech declaring #Eritrea and #Ethiopia are one is hardly forgotten. Nor can we overlook his record since 2001, when he became a totalitarian dictator. His constant flip-flopping between alliances is exhausting our defence forces, creating grievances on all sides and worsening the demographic strain caused by decades of conscription and emigration. Eritrea cannot afford to keep paying the price for his shifting political allegiances. And I find it difficult to understand those who applaud Isaias for constantly defying the West. At what cost? Anti-Western ideology seems to matter more to some than the economic reality facing our country. Sanctions have played a role, but so have his own policies and regional interventions. We cannot keep isolating ourselves and expect to prosper. From a basic business perspective, how does a country grow without trade, investment or meaningful economic partnerships? This is what makes the situation with Ethiopia so frustrating. A mutually beneficial port agreement could have been negotiated without compromising our sovereignty. Even Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has made that distinction regarding Somalia. But if Abiy’s intention is to annex Assab, then we need to be thinking seriously about how we strengthen Eritrea economically, build strategic partnerships and secure our long-term defence. Instead, we have spent decades being told to fear threats from outside while Isaias continues to weaken the country from within. What exactly are we defending if our economy, institutions and population are being depleted in the process? None of this means dismissing the threat to our sovereignty. It means recognising that defending Eritrea and holding Isaias accountable are not mutually exclusive. We need diplomacy before another generation is sacrificed to war, and a future that isn’t defined by one man’s rule. ✨Eritrawinet did not begin with Isaias, and we must fight to ensure it doesn’t end with him. 🇪🇷 #eritreantiktok🇪🇷🇪🇷habesha #abiyahmed #tigraytiktok🇻🇳🇻🇳tigraytiktok
