Drones can be built very cheap and be weaponized. Other countries have been doing it for years. My husband and I have been hobbyist for a couple years now. U.S. puts a lot more restrictions in place than other countries just on hobbyist alone. The money that our government throws at drones compared to other countries is 🤯 as like anything else. It's not necessary. When you see how many from other countries can build these things, at half the cost, and what they can do to them it's actually concerning when they can be used to take out people! In the U.S. a hobbyist drone can't go past a certain speed yet a hobbyist in another country can go. They can even go higher elevation than ours. Alot of this is our FAA regulations. Do a little digging, it's actually interesting and pretty neat to see the differences just on the hobbyist's side of it!

@tynkr:one, it would take significant time and cost to build something as complicated as a patriot missile or equivalent in Ukraine. second, the corruption in Ukraine would make it very hard to protect the technology. I wouldn't be surprised if someone in Ukraine has already sold one to russia, but does it make sense to hand them all the specs in a production line? absolutely not.
