a few years ago my cousin came back to europe(romania to be precise) with his best friend, an original budlight grew american. this guy was suprised that a pear tree and an apple tree in my backyard. his surprise turned into horror when in picked up an apple from said tree and begin to eat it..."you can it that", ma dude where did you think apples came from? after that my grandma made us chicken soup, in the slavic way(take one live chicken then "magically" turnit into soup. the stangest part was the time we went grocery shopping and he saw an actual farmer's market, he was in shock that tomatoes we re not single plastic packet and potatos had some dirt on them. poor guy probably though we are savages

The first thing to understand is the label "organic" is a lie. That doesn't mean our markets dont have good fresh food, but that label really means nothing. . A lot of times people will purchase meat from either a Butcher or straight from the farm (ordering a half pig is actually economical) , we will go to the Bakeries and Farmer's markets. Though be careful of the market, make sure it's one that certifies that the sellers are actually farmers.

It’s sad. The 3 years I lived in Europe I ate so much more, I ate better, and it was cheaper. If you want to be healthy here, they consider that option a luxury that is exclusive only to the wealthy that can afford it.

There is a lot of processed food in the US, but there’s also good food. You just have to purchase from your local farmers farmer market butchers fishmongers, and they exist if people voted with their dollars in a different way it would be more prominent. I do love the food in Europe, I lived there for several years that being said there are plenty of places in Europe, where I saw a lot of garbage food that was highly processed in little packages that are made in factories so they do have good food and I think it’s more common place, but they have plenty of garbage as well. It’s about making good choices and understanding what you’re purchasing.

Healthy food cost more. And, a lots of the fresh food are some what local. Also, why do you compare prices with other stores that carries the same brands. That it will be awesome.

“Organic” is a government-regulated label around use of chemicals, pesticides, and growth hormones. So you could go to an ‘actual butcher’ here and end up with non-organic meat under the USDA rules.
