It should absolutely be increased. A C section takes a minimum of 6 weeks to recover from. You need your partner!!

Can we like speed this up? I’m due to give birth in 3 weeks via C-section and having my partner for 2 weeks only with a SEN 3 year old is going to be a struggle

if this could be approved and actively put in place within the next 4 weeks, that would be a massive help 🙏 35weeks and booked for csection at 39weeks

Yes! 2 weeks isn't long enough. If there's any kind of postpartum depression, that can't be recognised in 2 weeks. If you've had a c-section or third degree tear you're looking at a 6 week recovery (at least). It's a hard transition for an older sibling and the other parent off work can make all the difference with one on one attention.

Paternity should be matched to Maternity, this will remove the bias for women in hiring as both men and women have the potential to be off for the same period

Honestly, I’d rather get a better maternity allowance than the extra help 🤷🏽♀️
