Its just so fucked up to see hal so beaten up, guy an addict to the ring after years of being groomed by sinestro, based his whole life of being a Green lantern and doing whatever he want and now the only thing that made him famous is taken away, tossed and unneeded even by the guardian despite being the greatest GL. fucking hell, John over the years sees the power and attention the rings hold, he sees himself in hal i couldnt explain, he was trained adn taught not to be human but as a soldier. i. That just shows how unshakeable his willpower is, to work quite literally your entire life for the lantern ring, just to be strong enough to walk away from it once he realized the guardians nor Hal werent going to simply give him the ring but was expected to play dirty and take it by force

All that, Hal vs John, Zoe being a Manhunter, Kane almost losing her family, John trying to be perfect for his parents. All of that just for John to realize how messed up this all is and him choosing Hal and a good life over being a Green Lantern.
