Because the line moves quickly through high, middle, and lower notes, I try to keep the same resonance or “mask” feeling throughout the whole passage. I don’t want that position to disappear every time the melody moves down and then have to find it again when I go back up. For me, the goal is to keep the placement consistent so the voice can move more freely through the coloratura. Keep the position. Keep the line.
