@sindymf: Human Fertilization: From Ovulation to Blastocyst | Part 1 Human fertilization begins after ovulation, when a secondary oocyte enters the uterine tube. Sperm travel through the female reproductive tract and undergo capacitation before one sperm ultimately fuses with the oocyte. Fertilization triggers changes that help prevent additional sperm from fertilizing the oocyte. The oocyte completes meiosis II, maternal and paternal genetic material form pronuclei, and the fertilized cell becomes a zygote. As the embryo travels toward the uterus, cleavage produces the 2-cell, 4-cell, and 8-cell stages. The cells then compact to form a morula, which continues developing into a blastocyst as it reaches the uterine cavity. ✨ Part 2: What happens after the blastocyst reaches the uterus? #HumanFertilization #Embryology #HumanDevelopment #MedicalEducation #Sciencetok
