I work in a call center and I’m the same way. I was training a new hire basically saying this and she said she prefers to follow a script and be super apologetic and all that. I’m like if I call in somewhere, let’s skip the niceties and get to fixing the issue

my aht is so high im always in trouble but I work with id theft and alot of the calls are elderly people that are scared and don't know what to do after they just lost all there money and it brakes my hart so I try to do and tell them everything I can to help them but unfortunately I work for a company that I guarantee you all use and they don't give an F about these people and want us off those phones in a ridiculously short time. as a matter of a fact they shorten our after call rap from 130 seconds to 90 seconds so if have to do my job the way they tell me and I have to email someone or call someone back or fix someone else mistake so the company doesn't get fined then I better have it done in 90 seconds. so I feel you

His is super true. As an ex armed guard and a veteran, once you actually empathize and use your real voice, even crazy people will chill out and just help you help them. Lol

I don’t even care to take the hit with QA when they tell me to shorten my calls to abide with the 5 min handle time. It’s quality over quantity. I’m not trying to herd people like damn cattle.I work with people who get disability benefits, they need extra time. And we are not supposed to repeat ourselves but with my customers it’s needed 90% of the time. I love my job and I like helping regular folks.
