There is something about the long gray line of military cadets that has always stirred something deep within me—a sense of purpose, discipline, and unwavering commitment to something greater than oneself. It is a symbol of honor, of sacrifice, of standing tall in the face of adversity. And for the longest time, I dreamed of being part of it. I imagined myself marching in perfect unison, wearing the uniform with pride, carrying the weight of responsibility on my shoulders. I saw myself enduring grueling training, pushing my limits, proving that I belonged among the few who had the strength and will to serve. In my heart, I had already taken the oath. In my mind, I had already walked the halls of the academy, stood in formation, and answered the call of duty. But dreams do not always translate into reality. For reasons beyond my control, the long gray line remained just that—a line I could admire from a distance but never cross. Life had other plans, circumstances dictated a different path, and the future I once envisioned slowly faded into something else. And yet, the dream still lingers. Not as a regret, but as a reminder of the kind of person I aspired to be—disciplined, resilient, and ready to serve. The principles that drew me to the military remain with me, shaping the way I face challenges, the way I push forward despite obstacles, the way I strive to be someone who stands for something. Perhaps I will never march as part of that long gray line. Perhaps I will never wear the uniform or live the life I once dreamed of. But in my heart, I carry its lessons. And maybe, in my own way, I am still serving—just not in the way I once imagined. As persistent and dedicated that I am, I will never let go of that dream it may not be the long gray line but one thing I am sure is that there are lot of doors to open when one door closes. ——— Always in God’s grace through faith. I will and must be one. #multo #philippinemilitaryacademy
