@interstellarspac: 🌙 TODAY, THE MOON WILL HIDE VENUS FROM VIEW. On September 14, 2026, the Moon will pass directly in front of Venus from our perspective, temporarily covering the planet in a rare lunar occultation. Unlike a normal conjunction, the Moon will actually pass across Venus and block it from view. 🔭 As the event unfolds, Venus will disappear behind the Moon’s edge and later reappear from the opposite side. The Moon is much closer to Earth than Venus, but their apparent positions in the sky can line up closely enough for the Moon to cover the much more distant planet. ☀️ The event occurs during daylight in many locations. Venus is exceptionally bright, but seeing the actual occultation against a bright daytime sky can be challenging and depends heavily on your location and observing conditions. ✨ Nothing is happening to Venus itself. The planet isn’t moving behind the Moon in space—the two bodies are simply lining up along our line of sight, allowing the nearby Moon to temporarily cover the much more distant Venus. ⚠️ Important: Because this occultation occurs during daylight, take extreme care when using binoculars or a telescope. Never point optical equipment toward the Sun without a proper solar filter. 🌠 For observers inside the occultation path, this is a remarkable demonstration of celestial geometry: our Moon can temporarily hide one of the brightest planets in the sky.
