That ring is all Hal has. You’ve seen his house all dude has is a lawn chair, tv, and a closest filled with the same uniforms. Even in the comics Hal isn’t really close to his family. Only person he was close to growing up was his father. Plus hen he lost his ring temporarily in the comics all dude had was $17 in his bank account, and a RV he was living out off in the middle of nowhere looking at the stars dreaming of space and drinking soda.

I just don’t understand why the ring of green lantern can be taken off so easily. Me being Dc fan for a long time knowing the rings of the green lanterns can be only taken off when they aren’t concentrating or smt. In this show, they treating the ring like an accessory like everyone can have and use it even though the ring didn’t fly to them and choose them.

Hal doesnt want someone who follows orders to be replaced, Hal is also a lonely person so of course he doesnt want the only thing he has left of him to be taken away. Also, I feel like John finally sees why the ring had chosen Hal. No matter what situation Hal is in, he will never go down until his final moments. Its honestly really sad, even in the episode 6 preview you can tell John really did care for Hal or else he wouldn't be trying to find out why Hal was killed.
