I got diagnosed at 17 pretty quickly, but it took 11 years for the hospital to contact me after being on the waiting list to see someone for help! I had moved country by then. I'm 30 now. Healthcare for women in Ireland is a disgrace! You got this❤️All about finding the right doctor!

Girl with PCOS here! It’s mental they give you the diagnosis (eventually) and leave you to your own devices. My GP prescribed me Dianette to regulate hormones and help with my acne! My-inositol (or just inositol) is something you can also take yourself it’s very good! So sorry you feel overwhelmed everything will be better x

I was diagnosed with it at 22 she basically called me and said “you’ve got cyst on your ovaries which is PCOS, call us when you want to get pregnant you’ll need help” I wasn’t trying to get pregnant, but 2 months later I fell pregnant unexpectedly and again in 2024. They send you on your way with little to no explanation! Joke 🥴

Lauren your reaction is complete justified, what a horrible way for the doctor to deliver that news to you! ive PMOS aswell. my advice would be get referred to an endocrinologist they will go into detail about the hormone levels etc and will help you manage it from that aspect. feel free to message if youve any questions im happy help 👌 Sending love 💕

I was diagnosed with pcos at the age of 19 and they just told me “it’s not a big deal” but yes it is a big deal! Insulin resistance, hair loss, hair growth on my chin chest all the places I don’t want it! I was given metformin and told I had 3 months to loose weight with it and if I didn’t it was pointless and guess what I didn’t loose weight and I’ve had absolutely nothing from them since! This country is a joke for women’s health care. I’m 28 now no kids I used to stay awake at night blaming myself for not being able to give my partner a child. It’s a horrible thing to live with and nobody understands it unless they have it. No GP will give you the help you need and that’s the sad thing. More needs to be done for women with pcos.

In May it was changed to PMOS, with the “M” standing for metabolic, to reflect the broader endocrine and metabolic side of the condition. Improving muscle mass and insulin sensitivity is an important part of metabolic health with PMOS, and this can be done with strength training 😁

its a tough diagnosis but its not the end of the world either, similiar diet to diabetics can help valance the hormones. in my case reflexology and reiki helped me alot i now get one as regular as clock work. i have 2 kids conceived naturally so there can be light at the end of the tunnell too.
