@coach_mundy_: 1 set > 1 rep. Read that again. So instead of waffling about failure so much and coping about 1-2 reps in reserve, understand that many of you are literally doing more than a single set. Most lifters are doing around 3-4 sets for a muscle group in a session. If you’re not one of those people you’re still likely doing 2-3. - So you then ask yourself “what is the extra rep doing for me and I’m already doing multiple sets?” A lot of times you find that taking a set to failure requires you to lower the weight.. and depending on the exercise and number of reps, how fatigued you feel may vary. In a pinned post you’ll find where 4-8 rep sets are most ideal and make the most sense. - If you ask me for a study, well I don’t feel like citing it. Too bad. I’ve done it more than once and it won’t be today. Most of you don’t read anyway. Use critical thinking. Why is 1 set better than 1 rep. Then go further into it..
Avoid Failure in every set, imo... This will let you do more set without much fatigue. At the end you have more stimulus with less fatigue and progress better. 💪

Leaving 1 rep in the tank on the first set always seems to be the best approach

After starting my new split I began to understand this. Previously, I went to failure on every exercise because I enjoyed it, but it isn’t worth the “fatigue” for the rest of my sets/workout. Hope others will take this video into consideration and benefit from it. Thank you for another informative upload brother 👌

I just try to reach failure in the contraction and even if I could still produce enough force for the stretched position I ain‘t doing another rep. Works good for me
