@lovinglagos: Èkó Akéte. Ilé Ogbon. Aromi sa legbe legbe. 🌙🤍 When the streets grow quiet and much of Lagos has gone to sleep, an old tradition of Ìsàlẹ̀ Èkó comes alive. This is Eyo Òru. Not the daytime procession but a more intimate passage through the night, when selected members of Adimu, Laba, Oniko, Ologede and Agere take to the streets in honour and remembrance. two names were honoured together: Late Chief Kabiru Adeshina Oshodi and Late Chief Ganiu Asunramu Ewu Osi. Under the darkness of Lagos Island, the white robes move, the staffs strike the earth, the songs rise, and generations of tradition continue their journey through the streets of Ìsàlẹ̀ Èkó. Eyo Oru, night time Eyo is particularly special because it is only performed by the Eyo oshas, Adimu, okolaba, oniko, ologede, and agere and the rights and processions are restricted to isale eko. It is also a rare opportunity to take pictures of the Eyo Oshas as their orishas are not part of the procession. Its just the Eyos. Because in Lagos, history is not only remembered.
