@captainmanicorn: Walking bridge beams at 1200 feet. I volunteered to set up the rope swing for this jump, which meant crossing the exposed beams of one of China's tallest bridges. No safety line. Just the knowledge that if I slipped, at least I had a parachute on my back. It reminded me of those old photos of workers building skyscrapers, walking steel beams hundreds of feet up like it was nothing. Except they didn't have an out. This was during the annual BASE jumping event in Guiyang. The whole experience was surreal. The culture, the food, the way they treated us like rock stars just for doing what we love. They shuttled us around, put us up in hotels, flew us out there, and made us feel appreciated for the effort we put into this sport. I wouldn't trade it for the world. China blew my mind.
