not to mention that the reason we go to school is to learn how to learn and develop our brains, not just acquire knowledge

Biggest pet peeve is “we weren’t taught that in school” as an excuse for not knowing very basic adult tasks. No, they could not fit everything into k-12 public education, BUT if you paid attention, you would have learned to do the most basic research to figure things out! Willfully ignorant people exhaust me

I was in a comment section where people said they were never taught to budget so I said it’s pretty much just adding and subtracting and people jumped down my throat

lmao every year i pass my tests and forget about how to do it after obviously you should know basic math and basic stuff that you learn but all the other extra stuff u learn ur just simply not going to use unless ur work force requires that🤷🏽

I took a critical thinking/reading class in HS and all the jocks said “oh like I’ll ever use this again”. I’m currently in college to be a paramedic and ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS on the tests use what I learned in that class. I’m the only one in class that doesn’t struggle with it

It was not my finest moment, but when I was teaching, there was a girl who whined "I'm never going to usseeee this" all the dang time, and one day I responded, "You probably won't, but the kids that are listening are going to, so I'm going to keep teaching it."

Coming from a history teacher, dont get me started on "why do we need history class? its boring and it was in the past" when literally they question CURRENT events and it has AAAAALLLL to do with history and every branch of Social Studies 🤦🏻‍♀️

ESPECIALLY in elementary school!! I feel like we use elementary and middle school stuff the most on a day to day basis! Times tables, division, reading COMPREHENSION fractions we use this daily. I mean come on.

Yea you might not be using the quadratic formula on a daily basis, but math taught you how to work through a problem logically even though that wasn’t necessarily the focus of the lesson. Everyone uses the skills you learned in school, they just don’t realize it
