I was ready to give them the benefit of the doubt but the mapping/pathway of the yellow brick road and the placement of each of the characters is pretty damning. Even the fallen house is in the same spot! And the hot air balloon in the promo image background is in the same place that it is when the Polly Pocket Emerald City opens up. The more you look, the more similar it looks.

“There’s only so many ways to depict the film” is such a false statement. There’s many ways to depict Wizard of Oz without requiring the full land of Oz to be there in this way. A Munchkinland set with the house. A forest set with the fab 4 and the wicked witch lurking. The poppy field with the emerald city in the background. A full castle set. So many options but he chose one that exists point by point already in toy form and hoped no one would notice.

Additionally, as an avid Lego ideas user, LEGO will not produce sets based on IP Lego already has a relationship with. LEGO has made both Wizard of Oz and wicked stuff.
