Not My own words!!! But my understanding of the payment to the slave masters where to actually free the slaves.Britain was already willing to abolish slavery but the jamaican slaves masters were not willing to end slavery, so Britain had to pay them to free the salves and abolish slavery. the slaves masters consider it a lost if they should free the slaves without any compensation.

Why argue with the British government. Does the crown or the British government own any assets in Jamaica? Well, I would advise the Jamaican government to look into those assets and do the math! Argument done 🤔💯

Not sure there is a legal obligation there, I think going after those slave masters who were paid compensation maybe viable. If they have a living family then their estates should be sued.

they received freedom what more do thr Jamaican want and even if the government received money under thr government rule no one soul in Jamaican would received a dollar so i hope thrm never paid it thr people would never get it just like Melissa money them people send to Jamaican the people still not received and never will so i hplope thr king never paid a dime

let's be practical and use basic sense. leave the people dem land and then there is case to ask for damages. but the people leave you in a house on land that u never fought for or bought and dem must still give you money ..[Embarrassed]

compensation went to the slave owners based on the fact that many of the slave owners, were high ranking politicians, artisians, merchants and even members of the monarch family. That compensation along side revenue generated by slavery resulted in the development of major cities in England such as Liverpool and Manchester
