It’s unreasonable hospitality. It’s a taught practice, but to do it well a person must have the heart for it - the heart to listen and desire to make someone’s day. If I ever plan to visit Guangzhou, I will make sure I schedule it around staying here! Thank you so much for sharing.

i stayed with them in 2024 and they got me a chinese poem book written by yu xuanji because they saw me looking at the reviews on goodreads. it was also a birthday present because they saw i checked in 5 days after my bday. they set up extra screens in my brother’s room because he’s in tech. they even upgraded my mum’s assistant for free because they wanted her to have the exact same experience as us (she booked this whole trip herself and chose the cheapest room). i also love that the wifi has built in vpn. my mum went to stay with them a bunch of times since then and she never came home empty handed. they would write me and my siblings letters and write so many positive messages wishing us the best life. also when my sister passed, the owner flew to bali and meet with us to offer his condolences.
