They were taken toward Benguet and brought to a remote area along Naguilian Road. There, Myrna witnessed her sister and relatives being attacked. She was also beaten and stabbed before being thrown down a steep area and left for dead. For two days, Myrna lay injured while her family had no idea where she was. Then rescuers found her alive. Her sister Zenaida, cousin Vivian, and relative Laurita were already dead. Despite her injuries, Myrna became the only surviving witness. She identified several police officers whom she said were involved in the attack. Her testimony helped lead to their conviction, making the case one of the most disturbing crimes involving police officers in the Philippines. Myrna was only 14 when it happened.
