Don't worry, these things will get sorted out too. Once you catch up with the series, look at the difference between Rudeus's initial self and his later self; sure, he doesn't become a perfect person, but I think the fact that a character has flaws and that those flaws diminish over time is what makes him great.

Eris is around 3rd cousin. which isn't really related. also it's medieval times. kinda very normal back then. they didn't find out how bad it was for humanity outside of royalty cause back then royalty wanted to keep the bloodline pure...which caused massive birth defects in royalty. which Is why first cousins most places have laws against that marriage due to birth defects. 3rd iirc is legal still due to not really related close enough to cause issue.

this is the worst of it tbh. I'd finish the season and see how you feel. Its a long slow journey for Rudy. He takes 1 step forward and 2 back, quite alot early on

I will say just drop it if you dont like the demon arc it gets better but I found the show pretty good by episode 3. again its a story about "how much would it take for you to forgive everyone?" as the principle. he chose the worst human and is slowly showing realistic character development etc. so if rudeus is too much id not look any deeper and back off. its got great animation, choreography, character diversity, wod building etc. but youll also have to deal with a pedo learning what it means to be human, to be a father, husband etc. again the show isnt bad its rudeus that most cant stomach. personally read smut, rom coms, action, etc. so he doesn't bother me as much.

them being cousins is really like they are related through their great great great great grandpa, its far enough removed to not really be relevant that they are related in any way. still weird but not genetically detrimental
