While that seems like a good hack, it breaks down quickly when yiu start using bigger numbers. Add together 22 random numbers above 10,000. Now doing it in your head leads to more mistakes. Doing it the right way just works better.

That’s the way I’ve always done math in my head. You break everything down into tens and then add up the leftovers. It’s that simple.

Always find simpler ways: 7+3 is 10…. Add the 1&2, and you have 13. Carry the 1 and count to 5. 53

This math works okay with small single & double digit numbers but anything that equals well over a hundred there is a chance that it is an incorrect answer if your answer enters into the thousands or 10,000 it's guaranteed this math will not work
