You’re so right, and it’s worse when both partners have that “intensity” in the relationship. Coming from a person who came from an “intense” upbringing, and being in a relationship/marriage with someone on the other hand who didn’t have that sort of “intensity” I think the relationship taught me how to work on myself. Alhamdullilah happily married for two years now and can say having that “intensity” doesn’t stop you from loving that person, but self work and recognition as to separating love from intensity is definitely important to acknowledge

Humans love familiarity, often times people subconsciously think fixing a toxic relationship will heal their past trauma, it does not work like that tho unfortunately.
