There is no point to salt grinders besides aesthetics. Pepper grinders help preserve the pepper's flavor, because it's a spice that degrades with time, but salt is a mineral, there's no point in not storing it pre-ground. Also, most "Himalayan" salt actually comes from a different mountain range nearby in Pakistan

Yeah! That's exactly why I steer clear of these. I have a second-hand italian made pepper grinder that's lasted my family alone over 20 years. Who knows how long ago it was made and used. Wood and metal.

The idea of freshly ground salt is ludicrous. You want freshly ground pepper because peppercorn is a fruit and grinding it makes it more aromatic. But salt is a rock. There are literally zero benefits to freshly ground rocks.
