I don’t understand why the traitors don’t have an incentive to sabotage missions. They quite literally don’t have to do anything that could potentially make them suspicious. That’s what’s missing from the show

I truly think the key to fixing The Traitors is to crib some things from The Mole and incentivize the traitors messing up challenges.

I couldn't agree more. I also hate the fact that because it's got an episode count there's no real advantage to voting out Traitors because they just have to make new ones.

I enjoy the traitors as a “all my favorite reality stars doing wacky physical challenges and fighting with each other” show; but the game design is objectively bad - there’s such a good game juuuuust below the surface and they’re just not making it.

Worst thing about the Traitors that absent of any means to get reliable information, contestants are forces to look to the darkness within themselves. So often suspicion just falls onto the least 'normal' looking people

The point of the challenges in Traitors is that they are a *break* from the game. You're right that it makes no sense as a game you'd play with friends, but this isn't that. What makes it work is that it brings something only a TV show can go: they are playing for weeks, there's no escape from the game, no real conversations where you're not sure you're not being lied too, and £100000 on the line. It's about ramping up the emotion and tension and watching them break under the pressure. So the challenges are the time they get to run around and have fun and do something outside of the lying. They all work together to achieve a goal. They build friends and become a team. And then they go back to the castle and remember someone is trying to steal all that money for themselves. You can't be a traitor if you don't betray someone, and you can't betray someone you're not friends with.

The problem with the game is that the challenges, as he said, are pointless. The whole point of the game is to try and figure out who the traitors are, and then they shove in this challenge.... where the traitors and the faithfuls act identical to each other. Because the traitors also want to win the money. It would be better if it was either like The Mole, where the traitors want to mess up the challenge and maybe that's your clue, or more like Claim to Fame where instead of the money, just have the money be a fixed prize for the winner... and have the challenges be to earn information about people. at the end of the day, it's an identity game. and both of those other games did it better

The American version with celebs and such seems so dull, the British version is genuinely amazing with actual unknown members of the public, I highly recommend

bbc nailed the format of social deception games with trapped on cbbc, the saboteurs only objective was to stop the team from winning and get away with it. if they pulled ideas from that show then traitors could be a true social deception game, but for now it’s nothing more than a reality show and popularity contest

The Traitors is a reality show disguised as a game show. The game is actually making friends and trying to avoid the Traitor's targetting or avoiding obvious vindictiveness if you are a traitor. The challenges barely matter from what I can tell from the one episode I watched...
