I know what it feels like to love parts of teaching while quietly wondering how much longer you can keep living like this. The early mornings. The work that follows you home. The mental load that doesn’t disappear when the final bell rings and constantly feeling like your time belongs to everyone except you. I didn’t start looking for another way because I hated teaching. I started because I wanted my life back. I wanted to make an income without asking permission to take a Tuesday afternoon off. I wanted to travel without checking a school calendar first. I wanted work to fit around my family instead of constantly asking my family to fit around my work. So I started building an online business from my phone. And eventually, I replaced my entire teacher salary. Then I went on to make six figures in six months. But the money isn’t the part I value most. It’s waking up and owning my schedule. It’s being able to work from wherever I am. It’s having time freedom and location freedom. And now, instead of building my entire life around a job, I get to build my work around the thing that matters most to me: my family. I’m not sharing this because I think every teacher should quit. And I’m definitely not telling you that building an online business guarantees the same results. I’m sharing it because I wish someone had shown me that my choices weren’t limited to: “Stay miserable” or “quit tomorrow.” There was a third option: Build something on the side until I had choices.
