@popculturescientist: Stay calm nerds... We can survive this. This book came out in 2018 and it is one of my top rated books of all time. I tabbed it so much because every story fascinated me! Have you read it? #scifi #asimov #popculturescientist #BookTok
I have nothing to add , but engagement is important, so here we are 😄

Noor Research Collective :
The whole series is about how those laws are brittle and don’t work.

I thought you might have added a comment on Asimov’s later addition of a ‘Zeroth Law’ where humanity as a group is given primacy over an individual human.

It really makes you wonder what goes on in someone’s mind when they think it would be a good idea for someone that hates sci-fi technology to go laser some plasma. What would they hope to ever accomplish with that? What would even be the reason for that? Or, how would it become a benefit to them?

What if the data centers that the robots/AI models rely on for certain functions are already harming people's health. On that alone, are we not already past those rules? 🤔

I've always thought we could use Asimov's Laws of Robotics for human beings as well, and we should also add the Zeroth Law as the cherry on top as a precaution as well.

in the early 90's I picked up a copy of I Robot based solely on cover art. Not proud of it but there it is. when I left fort Lewis I gave my entire Asimov collection to a good friend of mine and he thoroughly enjoyed it as much as I did.

TBH, I have always loved his Foundation series more than his robot stories.
And yes, I knew about Campbell and laws.

Asimov did admit he wasn't fully responsible for the laws in one of his mini biographies.

I always thought the 3 laws were flawed, in my brain they sound like 3 intercepting loopholes.
