@fosterparenting: Little ones who have experienced food insecurity can become really fixated on food and want to stop play and stop engaging to sit and eat and sometimes they’ll eat so much that they might get sick. In this video I show away that you can redirect and some considerations to help them during this phase, as they’re getting to know you your home and starting to learn overtime that they will always have food in your home. ##fosterparent##fostercare##fosterparenting
My kiddo who needs crunch for sensory input loves crushed ice. I know it doesn’t solve things but might help a little.

wonder if I can ask this, I have two kiddos currently in house of safety. they only used to eat one thing but I want them to eat more healthy nourished meals rather than just that.

My stepdaughter did this when she was little (her mom didn't feed her correctly and she never knew where/when she was getting more food). I found that portioning out less than what I normally would for her and then letting her have more helped a ton. I also left snacks out on the table and on the counters so she knew there was food readily accessible throughout the day.

The key here if they're getting sick from it. Not if you think they might.

We have a food obsessed/ Insecure 21 month old and no amount of distraction works! He just has very violent temper tantrums for a good 30-40 mins.

The little kiddo we have eats to fast and throws up on his plate 😞 we’ve been cutting food smaller but he will shove multiple things in his mouth at once if we don’t watch him closely enough

I have an 18 month old and 19 month old. The 19 month old does this. He’ll eat his portion, steal some off her plate, and then stand there by us and scream if we don’t give him some of ours. Then some of it comes right back up. Nothing has been able to distract him at this point.

The food insecurity is so hard, I had a roomate in college that was adopted as a baby from Korea, she didn’t find out until later that she was so malnourished she actually 2.5. Even at 19 she kept a box of food under her bed 😥

I'm 23 and not a doctor and not a parent but, if a kid is eating and eating and never feeling full, maybe doctor is a good idea too
