So, i have a feeling it really is Hal thats dead. But does anyone remember what happened after he sacrificed himself as Parallax? Spoiler alert he resurrected himself when his ring when to his corpse, HE WILLED HIMSELF BACK TO LIFE. I got a hunch something similar is gonna happen.

My theory is that Hal was removed from the sector 2814 and that’s why guy Gardner is now the main lantern on earth, even guy says he met Hal in jail so most likely Hal is still a lantern but was removed probably cuz of events of rushville

When Zoe was killed she also was shot in the head. So going back to episode 1 maybe Jihn wasnt looking for the ring but checking if he had a hand ( remember Zoe was missing her hand

It doesn't necessarily have to mean anything. even knowing he didn't have the ring I would still check his hand, something could've happened. additionally, it could be to show the audience he doesn't have the ring

I think without his ring he loses it and turns to fear. Sinestro breaks out, steals a ring and they create the Sinestro Corp. Atrocitus learns that Hal killed the only other living member of his species while John slept with a Manhunter. This creates the red lantern and the reason he comes to Earth.
