@michellelynnlough: I think one of the hardest kinds of grief is mourning someone who is still alive… and mourning the version of yourself that existed before everything changed. Divorce didn’t just end a marriage for me. It changed me. There are pieces of the woman I was before it that I will probably never get back, and I’ve had to learn that healing doesn’t always mean becoming her again. Sometimes healing means grieving her. 🤍 And saying that does NOT take anything away from the life I have now. I love my husband. I love the life we’ve built. I can be deeply grateful for the love I have today while still acknowledging that something from my past hurt me deeply. Two things can be true at the same time. September is Suicide Prevention Month, and I think we need to talk more openly about the chapters that almost break us—the divorces, losses, identity changes, loneliness, and grief that nobody else can see. So if you’re grieving a person, a relationship, a life you thought you’d have, or even an old version of yourself… you’re not the only one. Tell me: what version of yourself have you had to grieve? 🤍 If you or someone you love is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 in the U.S. for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. #SuicidePreventionMonth #MentalHealthAwareness #DivorceHealing #LifeAfterDivorce #GriefJourney

I thought I was the only one who felt this. My grandma disowned me when I went no contact with my mom and I grieve the loss of my grandma from my life so much.

Your husband is getting a stronger, wiser woman than you once were, and loves you for the you you are now. It's okay to grieve a past version of yourself because that was a part of your experience, but you have grown and know what you will tolerate and what you won't, and I think that is worth a celebration

you are strong. A warrior. You have the story and the testimony you do so that others can have hope. The scars tell a story. The road isn’t easy. It is filled with blood. tears. agony. I don’t ever think I will trust a man again. I feel safest with myself. But my children won’t know an angry man. They won’t be raised with mommy being hurt. — our stories are different. But. You. Are. A. Warriors. Michelle now is doing what old Michelle couldn’t do. We mourn our innocence. But take pride in the women we have become. I love you.

He doesn’t want that girl. He married you for who you are now. I mourn who I was before my assault sometimes but a friend once told me, “You can visit that place of hurt, guilt and shame, but you can’t unpack and live there. “ Those words have kept me balanced for over 10 years. I visit that place less often now. Big hugs. I’m here if you need a friend.

You are stronger than you realize. Being able to talk of if makes you strong. Please continue to grow stronger and give that new man and babies the best “new” version of you. I have somewhat of a similar story. I have finally after 32 years realized I WAS enough and I was always worth it. Im worth being loved the right way. Many prayers!!. 💕

There is nothing like that kind of grief! Nothing like walking out of the flames different!

I feel this. After my brother passed away a little over a year ago , my family changed. The ones still alive, still here, they aren’t the same. I’m grieving the family that I always thought I’d have, because although they aren’t here physically, they are gone. Sending you so much love 🖤
