@lyna.brow.and.lash: COVERING EXISTING BROW WORK IS OFTEN MUCH MORE DIFFICULT. This is one of the reasons I don’t take on a lot of cover-up brow cases. When working on a clean canvas, I have much more control over the shape, technique, color, and overall design. But when there is already old pigment in the skin, I have to work with what is already there. Every old brow is different. The previous artist’s technique, pigment color, saturation, depth, shape, and placement can all affect the new result. Sometimes the old pigment has changed over time and may appear gray, blue, red, orange, or uneven. Simply putting a new color over it does not always create the result we want. The old color can continue to show through and affect the final tone. The existing shape can also be challenging. If the previous brows were made too thick, too low, too long, too dark, or not balanced with the client’s natural facial structure, there are limitations to how much I can change without removing or lightening the old work first. This is why cover-up work requires careful color analysis, proper correction, strategic technique, and realistic expectations. Sometimes the best approach is not to cover immediately, but to lighten or correct the old pigment first.
