Septoplasty is literally the easiest surgery to recover from. Annoying but easy! Zero pain if you listen to the rules. The skirting you have to wear under your nose is going to be your best friend for two weeks.

I had a septoplasty for a deviated septum and they had me do a nasal rinse twice a day once they removed the splints! So I'd get a netti pot of the netti bottle! The ice packs will be your best friend! Under eye patches too for puffiness and bruising too!

Set alarms for your pain meds the first few days, if you miss a dose you’re gonna be suffering and trying to relieve the pain instead of staying on top of it. I’ve had dozens of surgeries and that’s my most important piece of advice.

When they say don’t bend down to get anything, listen! I bent to grab my shoes instead of letting my mom help and blood just ran out my nose. Painful/uncomfortable but tolerable with OTC meds. Popsicles for the first day or two for sore throat from being intubated. Anything to help with dry mouth because you will be a mouth breather until the shunts are out

I had a septoplasty done 2 years ago and the recovery wasn’t too bad, the most miserable part was that I couldn’t blow my nose! It was very uncomfortable but not super painful. I also drank pineapple juice for like a week before to help with the swelling.

My husband when he got his surgery the best thing I could do for him was make him as comfortable as possible so comfy shorts and a good round of when he needed his pain meds

get saline gel! it is great for in between rinses and keeping your nose moisturized. also definitely look into get a humidifier to use at night

Start taking arnica pills from like sprouts NOW. Helps with bruising and swelling. The pain was zero for me, it was just pressure. Get a airplane pillow to sleep so your head doesn’t move around while you’re sleeping

I got mine done over thanksgiving break, went back to school like nothing happened. Literally just keep your chin pointing to the front for the first few days.

My nurse told me If you get pain meds keep one for when they remove the splints. Take it an hour before your appt. Otherwise you feel every millimeter when they remove them. They are like the size of your thumb coming out cha nose hole. Was the best thing I did. Everything else was pretty mild.

Saline spray up the wazoo for cleaning. The pain really isn’t too bad. It’s more so the mental of getting through swelling and bruising and feeling stuffed up all the way to the brain. Aquaphor too for dry mouth / lips cause you’ll be mouth breathing for a while

make sure you get saline spray for your nose, the nasal splints will make you feel like you have hella bats in the cave. they’ll prob give you oxy for the pain, it helps a lot for the first few days. also they’ll prob give you zofran for nausea, great for the first day coming down from anesthesia

The day they took the packing out I was in HORRIBLE pain and throwing up. All that helped was advil pm and I was able to rest. You’ll think you’re better and then go to do something and realize that you’re not as healed as you thought you’d be, I bent over to empty the dishwasher after a couple days and was humbled quickly 😅 if you have a recliner just plan on living in that and having ice packs

If it’s related to like your nose and your sinuses, I would assume that a humidifier would help a cool mist or a warm mess. I’m not sure but definitely worth looking into the only thing I ever hear about it is don’t pick at it. Don’t mess with it don’t sneeze try not to cough. Just try to avoid the pressure on the inside by making sure you don’t keep your mouth shut too tight.
