@hiphopofthe90s: Nas turns 53 today with a catalog spanning more than three decades of hip-hop 🎂🔥 Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queensbridge, Nas first caught wider attention as Nasty Nas on Main Source’s “Live at the Barbeque” in 1991. Three years later, at only 20 years old, he released “Illmatic.” Across ten tracks, Nas worked with DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, Large Professor and L.E.S. to create an album that became a benchmark for lyricism and storytelling. In 2021, “Illmatic” was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry. His second album, “It Was Written,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and expanded his audience through records like “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)” featuring Lauryn Hill. He continued building his catalog with projects including “Stillmatic,” “God’s Son,” “Life Is Good” and the “King’s Disease” series. “King’s Disease” earned Nas his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2021. He later completed a six-project run with Hit-Boy in just over three years before releasing the long-awaited collaborative album “Light-Years” with DJ Premier in 2025. Which Nas album do y’all return to the most? 🤔⁉️ #rap #hiphop #rapmusic #hiphopmusic #nas
