Common advice is to just say 'circle your legs' when trying to learn the treading water, or 'eggbeater' legs. But have you actually tried that? Doesn't really work... Really, the 'eggbeater' legs are just alternating Breaststroke kicks, one leg at a time, slightly overlapping. Simple! But, do you know what? If you master your hand-connection with the water (sculling), you actually don't need to do much kicking at all, and the eggbeater legs are really overrated (and too much emphasis is often placed on them, making people lose their focus on the hands!). However, if you are someone who is very dense (a Type-4/Dense body type in my system) and if you don't float naturally, then the eggbeater legs can actually become more important.
