@herbalacademy: Kitchen herbalism is meant to be shared! 🫂 Well, all herbalism, really… But send this to the friend you want to have a garlic honey party with 🧄🍯 GARLIC HONEY is one of the simplest and most accessible herbal recipes to prepare for cold + flu season, making the perfect immune-boosting tonic 💪 Used for at least 5,000 years as a food and an herb, garlic is one of the most well-researched herbs to date! 🤓 Thousands of studies have been done on it and its primary constituent of scientific interest, allicin, and its effects on the cardiovascular system, infections, the respiratory system, cancer, blood sugar, and more. An immune system stimulant, diaphoretic, expectorant, and antimicrobial, the raw cloves are used to support the body’s response to respiratory conditions in the winter months. Combined with honey, it makes a simple preparation you can keep in your herbal pantry and reach for when you want some extra seasonal support 🌿 Here’s the @herbalacademy take on the garlic honey you need in your herbal apothecary this season: HOW TO MAKE GARLIC HONEY
🧄 Peel and separate 3 garlic bulbs, then chop or grate them. 🍯 Let the garlic sit for a few minutes, and then add raw honey 🫙 Fill a clean, dry jar about halfway with the garlic, then pour honey over the garlic until it’s completely covered. Use a clean, dry spoon to stir well, making sure the honey coats all of the garlic. 🍯 Cap, label, and store. Then enjoy a spoonful on its own or stir it into a warm cup of tea.  OUR HERBAL TIP: letting freshly chopped garlic sit for a few minutes before using it helps activate some of its sulfur-containing compounds. Because this recipe contains honey, it should not be given to children under 1 year old. Follow proper food-safety practices when preparing and storing garlic honey. ⚠️ NOTE: Honey and garlic can both harbor spores of Clostridium botulinum (the pathogen that causes botulism). Though many use this recipe as-is, some individuals choose to use a pH meter and add a splash of apple cider vinegar to keep the pH levels below 4.6, lowering the risk of botulism.
