@journeybacktotheice: Replying to @Alice Martinez Here is how to do the second push and what it should feel like when you are doing forward crossovers!⛸️ In figure skating, forward crossovers are made up of two pushes. The first push uses a forward outside edge and the second push uses a forward inside edge. A very common mistake or misunderstanding beginners have when it comes to crossovers is that the second push is a half swizzle pump. This is incorrect. The second push is created by the weight transfer caused by the free leg crossing over the first foot and stepping down onto an inside edge. This weight transfer will naturally push the first leg back so you can lift it up and repeat the process over and over again. Overall this weight transfer has the same sensation as the grapevine step with glides in between #l#learnontiktoks#skatingtipsb#beginnerskaterl#learntoskatei#iceskatingtiktok
Hi! Thank you for the advice in this video! How do you stop skidding/sliding when you lean into your edges? I struggle a lot with skidding a lot which makes it hard for me to stay steady and deep in my edges. Do you have any advice for this too?

Erin :
I think I finally figured out the second push and it genuinely shocked me how much easier it was to pick up speed!
