@a.tay8: Composting is basically nature’s way of recycling You need a good balance of “greens” and “browns.” Your food scraps, coffee grounds and fresh grass clippings are your greens, which are rich in nitrogen. Then you have your browns things like dry leaves, sticks, cardboard and straw which are rich in carbon. The microbes breaking everything down need BOTH to do their job. Then you add some moisture and oxygen, let the microbes do their thing, and over time all those scraps and yard materials break down into dark, nutrient-rich compost you can add right back to your garden. So instead of throwing away your kitchen scraps and bagging up all those leaves… you’re turning them into something your garden can actually use. #compost #gardening #fertilizer #homegrown #savemoney
