When I finally managed to drag myself to work after the last election, one of my coworkers asked how I was doing. I kinda grumbled about being alive. She asked what was wrong. I said. "oh nothing other than the end of our democracy." She cackled and told me not to be ridiculous. I quit that job not long after, but I SOOOO want to go back and ask how she feels about that now.

January 6th was the trial run. We will be facing the Republican coup 2.0 with the midterms. IF we make it to the next presidential election, we are never getting rid of Trump/Vance. Mike Pence wasn’t a good guy, but he followed protocol with the election. JD Vance will not. I have said since the 2024 election results came in. American democracy is over. We are now Russia of the west.

Mike Johnson will not be the speaker of the House when these newly elected people are sworn in. he will have absolutely zero say in who gets sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives. . the new term starts in 2027 that includes a new speaker of the house. and all of the members of the house are sworn in before the speaker of the House is even elected!! this is basic American civics. I don't understand why everybody's walking around like the damn pants are on fire because they think Mike Johnson won't swear people in when Mike Johnson won't even be sworn in himself.
