@catieosaurus: please dont bean soup this one, I am being honest and vulnerable about *my own experience* and am genuinely asking. #sensoryissues #sensoryprocessing #weightloss #adhdinwomen
My skin itself being a sensory nightmare sometimes. Or my hair. Or the fat on my neck. (I have dermatillomania)

My weight fluctuates about 10lbs. Every time I gain wait I can feel it in my sides, like the rolls make me physically uncomfortable. I swear I feel it in my armpits

went from over 300 to 140 and totally feel this. I never understood why people hated cold weather until I could actually feel the cold. I also sometimes look in the mirror and have to remind myself that man is me not some handsome stranger

The Ark of the Covenant reference made me laugh out loud, that's such a perfectly nerdy simile.

As I'm losing weight (as someone who has always been larger), the loose skin and friction drive me up the wall. I had to change how I wear some articles of clothing in order to reduce sweat pooling.
As a trans man who's had top surgery, the underarm breast tissue that remains has created new folds that irritate me... I'm just pushing through until I can both reach the point where I qualify and can afford skin removal. I'm beyond uncomfortable 24/7.

as a trans audhd person, i feel this so hard. this will be my second winter post top surgery and last year i was so COLD. and what is this thing with chest sweat touching my shirt and my shirt touching my whole chest. my skin texture is still really soft and it does not like razors and is throwing a fit over facial hair. being in flux is awkward and anoying and physically uncomfortable and often painful. when other trans people are lamenting they wish they could magically change everyting at once it makes me think "but can you imagine going through all of this in a fw hours even? how much that would HURT!?"

I didn't even know 1 clasp was an option unless you're an A cup. But also, lack of body fat is humbling. It's so weird to go from too hot to to cold. Also, my butt is less padded, so it's harder to get comfortable

My mum lost a lot of weight a few years ago and one of the first things she said to me afterwards was apologise for thinking I was being dramatic as a kid when I was cold all the time. I couldn't have ice in my water at restaurants as I'd get too cold. It's amazing what a difference body fat makes to keeping you warm.

before I started SSRIs i was cold CONSTANTLY and always needed sweaters and compression gloves with me when it was sumner AC time at work. now im constantly overheating and the cold AC is so soothing 99% of the time, but i miss my cozy sweaters and sweatshirts because now if i wear one it's too hot most places even in winter
100000% worth it though because it helped so much with my OCD intrusive thought spirals and I'll take being sweaty any day over those

since I lost all the weight, I'm cold a lot more, and I need seat cushions now, not the thing that really gets me is how much harder swimming has become, I just sink now.

Not related to weight change but I’ve had anxiety attacks because I’m suddenly aware my toes touch. Also the feeling of the texture of my teeth. I also have chronic health issues that cause hives, cyst/boils etc that stress me out skin texture wise and also sometimes just parts of my body feel wrong because my nerves are freaking out. The sweat thing is def a thing too:

I went from 355 to 260 recently, and sex is different. Not better, not worse, just different i wish I had a better way to explain this. But I think you may be onto something that I had not considered before.

Kind of the opposite of what you said but gaining weight has messed with my proprioception. My weight goes straight to the rear. I’m an educational asl interpreter, and I stand in front of a lots of white boards in a lot of classrooms. I knock things off the metal lip of the white board in everyone’s classrooms now ( and some desks).

learning how to dress this new body in perimenopause is a massive chore. Losing weight made me cold all the damn time, but I felt less fatigued overall.

I lost 170 lbs and suddenly chairs hurt to sit in, walking barefoot hurt, and sleeping hurt. Without my cushion, my bones got grumpy touching things, and themselves during sleep. The constant cold sucked too.

In the other direction, being bigger has almost entirely good for me sensory-wise. Better for my blood circulation, body is softer, etc. My biggest body sensory issues now are itchiness from MCAS and blinking. I can feel and hear my blinking when I have headphones or earplugs in and it makes me miserable 😭😂

When I had a washing machine at home, I would use a thick towel to line the tub for long soaks. Riff on this idea as suits your specific tastes/needs, you're welcome.
I'm looking at the same process of maintaining my mobility by reducing pressure on my knees and hearing your take is helpful.

THE ARK OF THE COVENANT?! SAVAGE 🤣🤣🤣 But yes, my hair touching my face, my thighs touching, broken or chipped nails, my glasses on my face (non negotiable for me, just like a bra would be), the feeling of when leg hair is breaching the skin surface again… send help

Going through 2 pregnancies changed my body so much, and my body is not the same, even 10 years after my 2nd kiddo. My boobs are one of my biggest sensory issues. I can’t NOT wear a bra because then they ✨touch me✨ but bras are their own hell because I have sciatica right where the bra strap is supposed to lay. Also I only want soft cotton underwear now. Anything else feels like I’m trapped. (Didn’t use to be the case)

I’ve had two full term pregnancies and spent ten years well over 200lbs, now I’m 170 and it was terrifying losing that much weight. I’m so cold. All the time. I jiggle so much more now. I’m overstimulated by my own skin. 😭
