I'm going to be honest., I have four full-length novels out, a novella and I am working on book number five in my series and it is about 95% fueled by spite. you will have days where you do not want to work or you just do not want to sit down and start typing. and what I do is I think about that girl, you know the one we all had our version of her in high school that for some reason she made it her personal mission to make you feel like crap she's zeroed in on every insecurity and made it as public as humanly possible the one that was so awful that your mother who never talked bad about anyone said the most amazing things that you realize that oh that's where you get it from.. I think about her and I think about how in a few years she is going to go to a book con or a Barnes & Noble or something and she is going to see my face smiling back at her while I pretend not to recognize her and ask her if she wants her book signed and then make her repeat her name three times just to watch the indignation flash over her face over and over. is it petty? yeah yeah it is. but it's effective. and sometimes effective it simply more important.
